Dancehall heavyweight Popcaan is again in the spotlight for controversy after he chastised a fan for attempting to take his photograph of him at an event.
In a now viral one-minute recording, the entertainer is seen enjoying a musical performance at a venue. It is not clear where the event was being held, or whether it was recent.
The ‘unruly’ artiste then spots a man with what appears to be a camera in his hands.
“Hey, hey Badman!… You can’t a put yuh camera pon me so?” the artiste questioned as his entourage rushes to shield the artiste and reprimand the fan.
“How yuh just a put camera pon me so? A who you?” Popcaan further questions.
The man tries to explain himself, but it is not audible.
He then appears to apologise to the artiste for his ‘transgression’.
Whether the video is old or not, several individuals were not in agreement with the response of Popcaan and his entourage.
“This could have been handled differently. The gentlemen was so humble and apologetic. It’s so nice to be humble,” said one woman on Facebook.
“Dem —–bwoy deh too hype. That’s why mi nuh do the fans thing period. Me walk pass dem cause dem a regular smaddy. Nuh boy or gal nuh more than mi,” said a man in reaction to the video.
Added one woman: “The man is obviously a fan and while he probably could have asked if it was ok, that definitely wasn’t handled the right way… but hey, better not safe invade Batman space, or else…”
Some individuals, however, disagreed with the general consensus. Some suggested that the man was rude to have attempted to record/photograph the artiste.
“Hype? Everyone deserves respect and authority of oneself. Nobody is entitled to just photograph another person,” a Facebook user stated.
“It is not hype. People must stop put camera in people face at party. Unuh too nuff,” said one woman.
