Head of the Area One Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Clifford Chambers, says a patient, who was released into the care of his mother after she demanded that he should be discharged, was not a don.
Chambers said the man was a former taxi operator.
The nation was sent into a frenzy on Tuesday morning after reports had emerged that gunmen stormed the Cornwall Regional Hospital, demanding that a don who was hospitalised should be released.
The top cop clarified that that there was no confrontation between medical personnel and gunmen.
Additionally, there was no confrontation between the police and any arm thugs on the compound of the hospital.
