The police have released the identity of a district constable who died after he sustained injuries in a motor vehicle crash on the Orange Bay main road in Portland on Sunday night.
Dead is 25-year-old Romar Steele, otherwise called ‘Shav’, who was assigned to the Portland Police Division.
Information received from the police is that sometime before 9:00 pm, Steele lost control of a Honda Civic motorcar and collided into a utility pole.
The injured officer had to be removed from the wrecked vehicle after he was trapped inside.
Steele was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force, who released a photograph of their deceased colleague, expressed condolences to his friends and family members.
