A 69-year-old man remains hospitalised under police guard after he was identified as a person of interest in the murder of his ailing wife in Lionel Town, Clarendon on Monday.
Dead is 67-year-old Pamela Gregory. She was reportedly ailing for some time and bedridden.
According to reports, a relative of the elderly couple went to their room when he discovered that the ill woman’s throat was slashed.
The relative tried to gain full access to the room, but was attacked by the elderly man with a knife. He (the attacker) was eventually disarmed by the relative and hit.
An alarm was raised and the police were alerted to the house in the Lionel Town Housing Scheme.
Both the relative and the elderly man were assisted to the hospital.
The 67-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and her body removed to the morgue.
Police detectives are trying to determine a motive for the killing.
