St James-based Dancehall entertainer Tommy Lee Sparta has been released from prison after serving time for gun offences.

Sources close to the deejay’s camp say he was released early from prison due to his good behaviour.

In March 2021, Tommy Lee – whose real name is Leroy Russell – was sentenced to three years in prison for illegal possession of a firearm and two years for illegal possession of ammunition. The sentences ran concurrently.

The artiste was charged in December 2020 after he was found in possession of an illegal gun and ammunition during a police operation along Holborn Road in New Kingston.

He had pleaded guilty to both offences.
