More details are emerging about the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy at his home in Hellshire, St Catherine on Wednesday morning after he was mistaken for an intruder by his father.
Raheem Shaw, a fifth form student at Wolmer’s Boys School, was shot by his 51-year-old father, who is a licensed firearm holder about 3:15 am.
Reports are that the family was asleep when the boy’s mother alerted her husband to the front gate and the grille being opened.
He went to investigate and noticed that someone was outside. He then fired in the direction of the suspected intruder.
When they checked, it was realised that it was young Raheem who was shot.
Raheem was thought to have been in his room, as his parents heard his fan. He reportedly did not sleep without the fan being on his room.
The parents rushed their son to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The man’s licensed firearm was seized, and he is being questioned as the probe continues.
