A St Thomas businessman and a senior employee of a supermarket, who are both charged for defrauding the entity of thousands of dollars, will have to wait until April 26 to know if they will be granted bail.
Collin Harris, 37, and Melissa Godfrey, 25, appeared recently in the St Thomas Parish Court, where their attorney attempted to make a bail application on their behalf.
However, prosecutors indicated that the police were continuing their investigations into other incidents of fraud relative to the two accused, and releasing them on bond could comprise the probe underway.
The presiding judge agreed, and remanded both accused into police custody.
Police sources told Jam Street Journal that Godfrey allegedly diverted a number of goods at the supermarket to Harris without billing him.
The goods are valued at approximately $250,000.
Harris is charged with receiving stolen property, while Godfrey is charged with conspiracy, falsification of account and fraudulent conversion.
