St Mary native, Sacaj, the lone woman in this year’s Jamaica 60 Festival Song Competition, was on Thursday crowned the winner with her entry, Nuh Weh Nice Like Yard.
The 29-year-old from Sanside, St Mary became the fifth female winner in the competition’s 56-year history.
She won a cash prize of $3 million, which will be shared with producer of the song, Newell Morgan.
Magic Flute placed second with his entry I am a proud Jamaican, while veteran entertainer Nitty Kutchie finished third with Defend Jamaica.
Kutchie was also awarded the Best Performer prize.
The other finalists were: Dez I Boyd with-Jamaica Sweet Again, ‘Sixty’ by One1; Orkid’s –‘Diamond Jubilee’, ‘Jamaica Nice Again’ Inspiyah, ‘Rock to da Beat’ by Intrestt Rory Stamp’s- ‘Bring Back The Love’ and Nazzle Man’s- ‘Out Of Many’ .
Dancehall artiste Stacious, who won last year’s competition, was among the guest performers at this year’s event, along with Ritchie Stephens.
