Jamaica has confirmed its fourth monkeypox case locally.

This case is the second locally transmitted case, meaning the man from St James had no recent travel history and is not linked to previous cases.

“The patient is currently isolated at home and the parish health department has commenced its contact tracing,” said the Ministry of Health and Wellness.

Of note, all four monkeypox patients are males, with ages ranging from 25 to 35 years.

In a release on Wednesday, the ministry said it will begin weekly monkeypox updates on Mondays.
