A 42-year-old self-proclaimed ‘spiritual leader’ has been arrested after he allegedly raping a child during an exorcism exercise last month in St Catherine.

Joma Hepburn, a 42-year-old resident of Gordon Boulevard in St Catherine, has since been charged with rape, grievous sexual assault and sexual touching of a child.

His court date is being finalised, the police’s Corporate Communications Unit informed in a statement on Tuesday.

It is alleged that on Friday, May 6, the child was sent to Hepburn to perform an exorcism exercise.

During the activity, he allegedly committed sexual acts, including rape.

A report was subsequently made to the police, and Hepburn was arrested and charged by detectives assigned to the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA).
