Controversial American sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson has failed to advance in the women’s 100 metres at the US Track and Field Championships, ending her dreams of competing in that event at the World Championships.
Richardson never got a fast start and ran 11.31 seconds, some distance off her 10.85-second run in New York earlier this month.
She snubbed the media, and avoided questions after her race.
She is listed for the 200-metres preliminaries. It is not yet clear if she will face the starter.
No stranger to controversy, Richardson was among the favourites in the 100 metres this year, after her dominate performance at the US Olympic trials last year.
However, a positive cannabis test derailed her chances.
