Pop superstar and Barbadian National Hero, Rihanna has been confirmed as the headlining act for the half-time show at Super Bowl 57.

The nine-time Grammy winner first hinted at the news by posting a photo of her hand holding a branded NFL football.

Rumours are also circulating the Pop icon and businesswoman could release new music before that scheduled performance next year.

On Monday night, US media outlet, People magazine, reported that Rihanna was seen headed to “a music studio in New York City, wearing a graphic T-shirt and black bomber jacket”.

Added People: “She paired the jacket with black sweatpants and Adidas sneakers with neon laces.

“Rihanna completed the look with a black cap and a large blue quilted Chanel bag.”

Despite the lack of new music, organisers have dubbed the 34-year-old a generational talent, who has been a cultural force throughout her career.

The Super Bowl half-time show is one of the most coveted slots in music, with this year’s 14-minute spectacle pulling more than 120 million viewers.

The all-star line up which included Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J Blige and Kendrick Lamar, earned an Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety Special (Live).

The 57th Super Bowl is set for February 12, 2023, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

Apple Music has been announced as a partner on the Halftime Show, following the end of a deal with Pepsi.
