Detectives are searching for gunmen who killed a female footballer and a taxi driver Yallahs, St Thomas on Friday.

The footballer, Jedine Carr of Heartease, Yallahs in St Thomas, is a former member of Jamaica’s Under-17 women’s football team.

The other victim is 21 year-old Andrew Mullings of Newlands in Yallahs.

Reports are that Mullings was driving his Toyota Corolla motor car, which he operated as a taxi, along the Lloyd’s main road about 4:40 pm.

Carr and two unidentified men were passengers.

Sometime later, explosions were heard and the vehicle spun out of control.

The vehicle was later found in a gully with Carr and Mullings suffering from gunshot wounds.

The two were pronounced dead at hospital.

The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) has since expressed sadness at the death of Jedine, who it described as a promising footballer.

“I call upon Jamaicans to stand up to this bulging monster called crime and fight what seems to be a passive acceptance of it,” said Ricketts in a statement.
