The Police High Command is condemning the brutal murder of Constable Brian Martin on Ricketts Avenue, Kingston 13 on Saturday, October 15.
Martin, 22, was killed at a wake in the area popularly known as Frog City, while four other persons were shot and injured, including a 10-year-old.
“The police will not be deterred by this latest attack,” the High Command said in a statement issued on Sunday.
It added: “They (the police) will continue their focus on ridding communities of guns, gunmen and gangs who continue to cause death, pain and mayhem.
“Furthermore, we will be relentless in our pursuit in bringing those criminals to justice,” the High Command declared.
Martin was assigned to the Half Way Tree Police Station in St Andrew.
Reports are that about 10:00 pm on Saturday, Martin was among a group of persons at a wake in the community when armed men approached the group and opened fire.
Lawmen were summoned and Martin, as well four other persons, were taken to hospital, where the cop died while being treated. The others admitted in stable condition.
Meanwhile, the High Command expressed condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the slain policeman as the Constabulary continues to mourn the loss of a colleague.
“The JCF is committed to conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his murder,” the High Command said.
The Force’s Chaplaincy Branch and Welfare Department are providing support to the family members, friends and colleagues of Martin.
