Under-pressure Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson has called a press conference for Tuesday, to address the trail of bloodshed caused by multiple mass shootings across the island.
Despite intensified police-military operations reaping some success with the apprehension of wanted men and seizures of illegal firearms, Jamaicans continue to be terrorised by outlaws running amock in sections of the country.
The latest gun attack resulted in a triple murder in Eight Miles, Bull Bay, St Andrew between Saturday night and Sunday morning.
Details are sketchy, but it understood that a jerk chicken vendor and two other persons were shot dead while they were along the roadway.
That incident came hours after the slaughtering of a pregnant woman and her 19-year-old boyfriend in St James. The double murder is said to be gang-related.
The clamour for the Government to address the rising murders is growing, and all eyes will be on Commissioner Anderson to provide some more solutions.
Murders have climbed by nearly seven per cent up to May 27.
A total of 603 murders were recorded last Sunday, when compared to 565 killings for the corresponding period last year.
Ten of the island’s 19 police divisions have seen a sharpe rise in murders and shootings.
St James leads the way in murders nationally with 103 murders, followed by Westmoreland with 63 cases.
