Opposition Senator Dr Floyd Morris is calling on the Integrity Commission to launch an immediate probe into the firing of former Executive Director of the Housing Association of Jamaica (HAJ), Dr Patrick Thelwell.
Morris, who is also the Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) Spokesman on Housing and Sustainable Living, also wants the Auditor General Pamela Munroe Ellis to audit the management and financial decisions at the Authority over the past year.
Morris, in a statement on Tuesday, said that he is deeply concerned about the recent events at the HAJ.
“I am deeply suspicious as to what has really taken place at this national agency that has been charged to assist with the provision of affordable housing for ordinary Jamaicans.
“The Government must release the findings of the internal audit so that the public can see what is taking place at this institution,” Morris said.
The Opposition Spokesman wants full transparency on the management of the entity and its usage of public funds.
He shared that he feels strongly that the Integrity Commission and the Auditor General must intervene as their intervention would ensure that the processes and systems at the HAJ are fully respected and adhered to.
