Roshane Barnett, person of interest in slaying of five persons in Clarendon.

The man named as a person of interest in the murder of a 34-year-old woman and her children in Coco Piece, Clarendon on Tuesday morning, has been detained by the police.

It is understood that 23-year-old Roshane Barnett, who is a cousin of the deceased woman, was arrested by the police in Wilson Run, Trelawny on Tuesday night.

He was held during a police operation in the community, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DCP) Fitz Bailey told reporters.

Those killed are: Kemisha Wright, and her three daughters: 15-year-old Kimana Smith; Shemari Smith, 10; and five-year-old Kafana Smith.

Also killed is Smith’s son, one-year-old Kishaun Henry.

Residents discovered the victims with several stab wounds and their throats slashed.

It is alleged that Barnett and Wright were involved in frequent arguments.

Barnett had reportedly fled Trelawny after he was said to have been involved in lotto  scamming.

He was also charged for unlawful wounding by the police in relation to the injuring of his father during previous altercations. However, his father withdrew those charges.
