An agreement has been signed for scores of National Water Commission (NWC) employees to return to work on Wednesday night.
The deal was reached after lengthy negotiations at the Ministry of Labour and Social Security between union representatives and Government officials.
The agreement brings to end the industrial action taken by more than 2,000 NWC workers over a reclassification exercise that’s been outstanding since 2008, and the ongoing review of public sector compensation.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness on Wednesday had urged the striking workers to return to work.
“Get back to manning our water stations and returning water, this essential commodity, to our citizens, our business, to our schools, hospitals and all our endeavours,” urged Holness.
