NCB employee to face court on larceny and cybercrime charges

The 32-year-old National Commercial Bank (NCB) employee who was arrested by Fraud Squad detectives on Wednesday, has been charged.

Arsenio Johnson, a Retail Support Officer, is to answer to charges of larceny as a servant and breaches of the Proceeds of Crime Act and Cybercrime Act.

The police were called in after the alleged fraud was discovered at NCB’s head office at the Atrium on Trafalgar Road in St. Andrew.

Johnson was interviewed in the presence of his attorney on Friday and charged, the police reported.

He is scheduled to appear before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on July 20.

The police informed that during the period January 2020 to July 2022, Johnson effected a number of unauthorised transfers of money to two accounts associated with him.

The police say, based on preliminary investigations, the illegal transactions amounted to $5.8 million.

An audit is being carried out to ascertain the exact value.
