An interview by an alleged caretaker of an old lodge building in Morant Bay, St Thomas, where human skeletal remains were found, has raised more questions about the practices of such groups in Jamaica.

Initial reports had indicated that while a team from the St Thomas Municipal Corporation was in the process of demolishing the dilapidated structure, when an old board coffin was found.

Inside the coffin lay a human skull and several skeletal bones. The coffin, too, is said to resemble that of a child’s, rather than an adult.

By Sunday afternoon, two more human skulls were found inside a section of the old building.

The police have confirmed that the remains appear to be that of three human beings, and an investigation will commence to try to ascertain how they died.

The remains have been removed to the morgue.

But an interview by secretary of the Loyal James Lodge, first with Radio Jamaica News and later with the Jamaica Gleaner, has sent tongues wagging, as he had not given much information on the skeletal remains found at the location.

He confirmed that the building belonged to the lodge, and he was the caretaker. He assumed that postion three years ago after the initial caretaker died.

While expressing surprise at the discovery, his concern was more centred on the demolition of the building and its close proximity to the Jamaica Public Service (JPS).

According to the caretaker, he was not informed of the demolition and the electricity inside the building was not turned off.

The demolition of the building appears to be halted indefinitely, as the structure is the site of an active investigation.

Moreover, residents are now concerned whether the humans were victims of human sacrifice associated with activities that took place inside the building.

Will this case be another mystery, or will Jamaicans learn what happened to those individuals?

Only time will tell…
