Reigning Miss Universe 2023, Sheynnis Palacios from Nicaragua, is set to visit Jamaica in July for a special appearance at the Miss Universe Jamaica 2024 coronation.

The development was confirmed in an article written by Kevin Jackson of the Jamaica Observer on Sunday.

The Miss Universe Jamaica coronation event will take place on July 6, 2024.

During her visit, Palacios will attend a welcome reception and sponsors’ gala dinner. She will also meet with local sponsors and dignitaries in government.

Palacios will further visit children’s charities with reigning Miss Universe Jamaica Dr Jordannne Levy, sharing in Levy’s platform of promoting education and women’s empowerment.

The Miss Universe Jamaica Organization is thrilled to host Palacios.

Co-National Director of the organisation, Mark McDermoth was quoted by the Jamaica Observer as saying, “It means a tremendous deal for us to have Miss Palacios here as it elevates this year’s programme, and [it] gives added value to our investors, sponsors, partners, contestants, stakeholders, and our audience, who will be able to see her in person on the night of the coronation.”

Palacios, the first Nicaraguan woman to win the coveted Miss Universe title, said her upcoming trip to Jamaica is a great opportunity and also a dream come true.

“I am filled with excitement and gratitude as I prepare to represent not only my country but the entire universe in this spectacular event,” said Palacios in a media release.

Miss Universe Vice-President Mario Búcaro said the organisation is thrilled to visit Jamaica, and looks forward to the positive impact the visit will have both on the Miss Universe organisation and the Caribbean island.

The Miss Universe Jamaica 2024 coronation is set to feature a talented group of contestants vying for the coveted title and the opportunity to represent Jamaica at the international Miss Universe pageant in Mexico later this year.

Local eliminations will be held today.
