A popular tiktoker is decrying the state of murders in the Jamaica following the gun slaying of his friend, Odane Edwards, who was to return to Canada on Wednesday.

Edwards, 30, and his 21-year-old cousin, Trevan Davis, were shot and killed at a bar by gunmen traveling in a Toyota probox motor car on Monday.

The incident happened in the usual quiet community of Bamboo Walk, located between Gayle and Retreat in St Mary, a parish usually regarded as peaceful, but has seen an explosion in the number of killings and robberies there this year.

The murder of cousins have brought the number of homicides in the parish to 45, local police sources suggested.

Taking to his tiktok account on early Wednesday, @jayy_progress said his “breddren”, Edwards, arrived in Jamaica to spend time with his children and other family members.

“Him suitcase pack already fi fly out back today (Wednesday)… And the man decide… fi have a drink with him family… Monday night… and di man dem drive by and wet up (shoot up) the bar. Mi bregin dead! Di man nah get fi come back a him yard in Canada,” the tiktoker shared.

He said that tourists who are citizens of Canada and the United States are safe, because they will book into local hotels.

However, he claims Jamaicans who return to the country are not safe.

The police had reported that Davis and Edwards were at a bar about 9:30 pm Monday, when they were shot by men travelling in a Toyota Probox.

They were pronounced dead at hospital.

Local police in St Mary told Jam Street Journal that there was no motive established for the murder at this time.
