Mass shooting in Rose Heights, St James: 3 dead, 2 injured

A woman is the latest victim of a mass shooting at a birthday party in Rose Heights, St James on Wednesday. 

She has been identified as 26-year-old Toniann Reid, unemployed of Jarrett Terrace, Montego Bay.

The other deceased are 24-year-old unemployed Chamario Calvin, alias ‘Chippy’, of Ball Ground, Rose Heights, and 27-year-old Chadwell Fraser, unemployed ‘Bomb Brain’ of Felicity Road in Glendevon, St James. 

Two other persons remain hospitalised.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) reported that about 4:30 pm, a group of persons were at the birthday party along Marl Road in Rose Heights when a Toyota Axio motorcar drove up with masked men. 

They alighted from the vehicle and fired at the group. The culprits then escaped in the waiting vehicle. 

The five injured individuals were rushed to hospital, where Fraser was pronounced dead while Calvin died while undergoing treatment. 

The female reportedly died between last night and this morning.

Rose Heights and the surrounding areas remain tense, as their are rising fears of reprisals.

Members of the security forces are maintaining a presence in the area.
