A brazen mid-afternoon shooting on a busy Kingston highway has left a Jamaican man dead, just minutes after he returned to the island from Panama.

The incident occurred on Tuesday along the Sir Florizel Glasspole Highway, causing a massive traffic pile-up on the usually congested corridor.

According to Superintendent Tommilee Chambers, head of the Kingston East Police Division, the victim had just disembarked a flight from Panama at the Norman Manley International Airport and was on his way from the airport when his car came under attack.

“He was on his way from the airport and his car was shot up,” Chambers said, confirming the incident to local reporters.

The police have not yet released the identity of the victim, and investigators are working to determine a motive for the killing.

The police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
