The police have charged the son of the woman whose headless body was discovered in her home in Retirement District in St James on Monday.
Shemoy Brown, 29, was charged with murder on Wednesday afternoon.
Reports are that Brown attacked his mother, 53-year-old Michelle Gayle-Brown, some time between Sunday night and Monday morning.
Her co-workers became concerned after she failed to turn up for work.
The police were contacted and the headless body of Gayle-Brown was discovered inside a room at the house. Her body had multiple chop wounds.
The woman’s head was reportedly found in a separate room at the house.
Following a probe, her son was arrested. He is said to be mentally ill.
A date for his court appearance is being finalised, the police said.
