Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) councillor-caretaker for the Point Hill Division, Omar Francis, died after allegedly sustaining injuries in a motor vehicle crash early Monday morning.
The crash reportedly occurred in Kitson Town, St Catherine.
Details into the incident were not available.
Francis was also the JLP constituency organizer for West Central St Catherine, where Health and Wellness Minister Dr Christopher Tufton is the Member of Parliament (MP).
Francis was also a special advisor to the parliamentarian.
On Twitter, Dr Tufton said Francis will always be remembered.
“No words. Sadness. RIP Omar. A short life but you lived true to your convictions. We will continue the journey and always remember the role you played,” tweeted Tufton.
“Sad day for us,” tweeted Robert Nesta Morgan, Jamaica’s Information Minister.
