A 41-year-old inmate, Appolos Atkinson, has been charged with the stabbing murder of his fellow inmate, 32-year-old Jermaine Rogers, at the St Catherine Adult Correctional Centre on Friday, January 17.

According to a police statement, the incident occurred at the Spanish Town-based facility, where a commotion broke out, resulting in Rogers being attacked and stabbed in the chest with a sharp object.

Rogers was later found and transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Following a question-and-answer session with detectives, Atkinson was charged with Rogers’ murder.
