Demar Scott, the hotel worker who was charged in September 2018 with the rape of two female tourists at gunpoint, is to sentenced in the St James Circuit Court on May 12.
The 27-year-old man, who is of St Ann and Manchester addresses, had pleaded guilty to two counts of rape, two counts of grievous sexual assault, and one count of illegal illegal firearm and ammunition.
However, he pleaded not guilty in March to the offence of assault with intent to rob.
High Court judge, Justice Andrea Thomas, is to determine Scott’s sentence when he returns to court in May.
Reports from the police are that on September 27, 2018, Scott, who was only employed at the Montego Bay-based hotel for three days, allegedly broke into the room of the two guests and raped them at gunpoint.
Before that, he allegedly broke into a guest room where he stole the gun of a licensed firearm holder staying at the said hotel.
While he allegedly proceeded to rape the two women at gunpoint, one of them managed to get hold of the gun that fell from his grasp and fired two shots in his direction. He was shot, but managed to escape from the room.
Following the alleged attack on the guests, he is said to have turned up at the May Pen Public General Hospital in Clarendon with gunshot wounds.
Scott was subsequently arrested and charged.
