One of two men who killed a man in Central Village, St Catherine, was on Thursday shot dead by the police during a confrontation.
The deceased men have not been identified by the police.
Preliminary accounts are that about 11:00 am, two men left Brown’s Lane and went to another section of the community, where they pounced upon another man and shot him several times.
While fleeing the scene of the murder, the police intercepted the men and a gun battle raged, terrifying motorists and pedestrians.
When the shooting subsided, one of the gunmen was found suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at hospital.
The police have since established their presence in the community.
