A probe has been launched by the Guanaboa Vale police into the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Isaac Foster, a labourer from Pennypiece District, Kitson Town, St Catherine.

The incident occurred on Monday, December 30, at approximately 2:15 pm, during a funeral at Dovecot Cemetery.

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has also reportedly launched an investigation into the incident, which had largely been widely described as disturbing.

According to reports, Foster, who is believed to have been of unsound mind, attempted to disrupt the burial proceedings. He allegedly used a piece of concrete block to hit one of the mourners on the head and attempted to remove the body from the casket.

Witnesses claim that Foster began throwing stones at the mourners, including a licensed firearm holder. When Foster allegedly tried to advance towards the firearm holder, he was shot.

Foster was rushed to the Spanish Town Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, and persons are of the view that the police officer and the licensed firearm holder could have tried to restrain Foster.
