The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has formally charged 39-year-old Labbede Carr, also known as ‘Chubby’, with the murder of 16-year-old Jadene Gayle, a pregnant teenager whose body was discovered wrapped in a tarpaulin in Devon Pen, St Mary, on January 5.

Carr, of Sligo Road, Mountain View, St. Andrew, was taken into custody as the primary suspect in the case and was formally charged on Saturday afternoon.

According to the police, Gayle is believed to have been killed elsewhere and then dumped in the St Mary community by her killer.

The police investigation, led by the St. Mary division, resulted in Carr’s arrest.

Anthony Wallace, Acting Superintendent of Police for the St Mary Police Division, commented on the case in an interview with the Jamaica Gleaner.

“The police investigation… took Carr into custody as the primary suspect in this tragic case,” Wallace said.

Wallace added: “Authorities are working to finalize the court date for Mr Carr, which will be announced in due course. The police remain committed to delivering justice for the victim and her family and urge anyone with additional information regarding this case to come forward.”

The JCF is urging anyone with information about the case to contact them. The investigation is ongoing, and a court date for Carr is expected to be announced soon.
