Jamaica’s Constitutional Reform Committee (CRC) has signed off on a list of recommendations, which will soon be submitted to the Cabinet.

The disclosure was made by Minister of Legal and Constitutional Affairs, Marlene Malahoo Forte, while delivering the keynote address at Monday’s (April 29) Jamaicans for Justice (JFJ) – European Union (EU) Project Launch for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights in Jamaica, held at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston.

“The document is being prepared for signature of Committee members. You can be assured that in the same way we have put online all the confirmed minutes of the meetings, the report will go to Cabinet and it will be tabled in the Parliament, and we will have an opportunity as a nation to discuss it in full,” she said.

Meanwhile, the minister lauded Constitutional Law Expert, Dr Lloyd Barnett, who was in attendance, for the instrumental role he has played thus far.

“Jamaica is blessed to still have with us someone who is a true expert in the field of Constitutional Law and who has dedicated his life to the work of reforming the supreme law of Jamaica, and I deem it such an honour and a privilege to have him as part of this process,” Malahoo Forte said.
