Police sleuths in Westmoreland are probing the death of a medical doctor in Savanna-la-mar in the parish, following the discovery of his body at his home on Sunday.
The deceased is 57-year-old Aung Naing of Llaindilo in the parish. He was also a national of Myanmar (formerly Burma).
Naing who was last seen Sunday, December 8, was found dead at his home at about 2pm on Sunday.
Reports are that residents noticed a foul odour at Naing’s home and summoned the police.
On their arrival, Naing was found in the house on his back with wounds to the left side of his chest and neck.
A post-mortem report will be conducted at a later date to determine the official cause of death.
Naing, according to reports, had been living in Jamaica since 1997. He started his medical career as an intern at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH), and then as a doctor at several public health facilities in western Jamaica.
At the time of his death, Naing operated a private practice in Savanna-la-Mar.
