The police have identified the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) soldier who died after being allegedly hit by a motor vehicle while walking along South Camp Road on Sunday.
Dead is 36-year-old Garron Anderson of Burnside Hill in Red Hills, St Andrew.
The JDF, in its statement, described the incident as being unfortunate.
According to a release from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), about 9:30 am, the driver of a Nissan Latio motor car lost control of the vehicle which mounted the sidewalk, hitting Anderson in the process.
The vehicle then careened off the road and burst into flames.
The driver of the ill-fated motor vehicle has since been warned for prosecution pending a further probe.
The JDF is urging the public to call its hotline at 876-837-8888 to provide any information regarding the incident.
