Cops identify 5-y-o boy, man killed in St James gun attack

The police have confirmed the identities of the child and man killed during a gun attack in John’s Hall, St James, where a state of emergency (SOE) is currently imposed.

Dead are five-year-old Tavoy Cummings of Grange Hill, Westmoreland. The other deceased, who was previously identified, is 27-year-old Semui Shaw, otherwise called Aljay.

In a release, the Freeport Police said about 2:00 pm on Sunday, four people, including the child, boarded a motor vehicle at a funeral, when they were pounced upon by armed men, who opened gunfire at the vehicle. 

When the shooting subsided, three of the occupants were seen with gunshot wounds.

The police were alerted and the three injured persons were taken to hospital, where Shaw and Tavoy were pronounced dead. 

The other person is being treated.
