The Old Harbour police have confirmed that a decomposed body found in bushes in Bullet Tree district on Sunday, is that of Javon Miller, who was reported missing last week.

Seven men have been detained by the police as their investigations continue into the discovery of Miller’s body in a shallow grave in Bullet Tree, the community where he also resided.

According to the police, Miller left home on May 18, but relatives became concerned when he did not return home.

A missing person’s report was subsequently filed.

Acting on intelligence, the police were led to a heavily forested area of the community where the body was unearthed from a shallow grave.

Several 9mm casings were also found in bushes near the shallow grave, which could possibly mean that Miller was shot multiple times by his attackers and later buried.

Family members, who were at the gruesome scene, identified the body once it was exhumed.

A post mortem is still expected to be conducted.

The seven persons in custody are expected to be questioned over the coming days.
