Commish orders probe into absence of gun salute from cop’s funeral
Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson

Police Commissioner, Major General Antony Anderson, has ordered an probe into the circumstances that led to the absence of full police honours at the funeral of Corporal Oliver Mullings.

Mullings was killed while on duty several weeks ago.

It is understood the corporal was to have been given full honours in keeping with the force’s official Funeral Policy and Procedures.

However, it’s understood there was no firing party at the funeral.

The commissioner says as a member of the force who performed honourably, Mullings was deserving of the best efforts into the performance of his last rites.

The Commissioner says the absence of the honour has let down Corporal Mullings, his family and the JCF.

Major General Anderson says failure to adequately execute the standards and procedures as outlined in the force policy will not be tolerated.

He has promised swift action once the report on the matter is received.

Up to Monday evening, the commissioner had reportedly not received the report.
