The Broadcasting Commission has issued a directive requiring broadcasters to immediately stop airing any song or video which promotes scamming, abuse of drugs, illegal or harmful use of guns, jungle justice or any form of illegal or criminal activity.
Guided by the powers granted under the Television and Sound Broadcasting Regulations, the commission now “requires requires an immediate halt to the transmission of any audio or video recording, live song, or speech which promotes or glorifies scamming, illegal use or abuse of drugs such as Molly.”
Additionally, songs that promote the use of illegal guns, offensive weapons or any other form of criminal activity, are also banned from the airwaves.
The commission is also advising that edited songs featuring these topics are also banned.
Commenting on the directive, Executive Director of the Broadcasting Commission, Cordel Green, said this approach was necessary given the nuances and peculiarities inherent in content regulation.
