Alleged Clansman gang ‘associate’ shot in Spanish Town

A man, said to be an alleged associate of the Clansman gang, was shot and wounded on the weekend in Spanish Town, St Catherine.

The incident which occurred on Burke Road about 5:30 pm on Saturday, left bystanders scampering for safety in the Spanish Town bus park.

Reports are that the victim was seated in the park among other persons when a man approached.

The attacker allegedly brandished a handgun and fired shots, hitting the victim repeatedly.

The man was transported to the Spanish Town Hospital, where he was admitted.

The St Catherine police are investigating the incident.

Fifteen members of the One Don faction of the Clansman gang were convicted in March of serious crimes, including murder and arson.

They are to be sentenced in July.

Some 17 others who were initially on trial were freed after prosecutors failed to provide sufficient evidence to convict them.
