A motive is yet to be determined for Tuesday’s shooting death of a policeman in a section of John’s Road in Spanish Town, St Catherine.

Jermaine Brown was off-duty when he was shot to death by armed gunmen. He was  assigned to the Spanish Town Police Station.

Allegations are that about 5:30 pm, Brown went to the area in his private motor car to conduct personal business when he was pounced upon by unknown assailants who shot him multiple times inside his car.

The attackers fled on foot into nearby bushes.

Residents said Brown was providing private security to a business establishment located near to where he was shot dead inside his vehicle.

The Police High Command, as well as the Police Federation, has condemned the killing.
