A group of heavily armed robbers are on the run after attempting to rob the People’s Cooperative Credit Union Branch in Maroon Town, St James on Friday.

CCTV footage of the incident has gone viral on social media.

The men allegedly aborted their robbery mission after a man used a hose and made sounds with his mouth imitating a firearm, which scared the heavily armed robbers who fired wildly as they escaped in a waiting motorcar.

One of the videos which runs for over two minutes is located below.

The contents of the video include a female security guard being accosted by some of the men. Four of the men then enter the business establishment with their weapons.

However, shortly after, the alleged robbers fled the scene after a shirtless man appeared, pointing what the police later said was a hose of a fire extinguisher imitating a gun.

The police confirmed that the armed men did not get any money from the credit union despite banging on the teller’s windows with their firearms.

But they did manage to steal the female security guard’s iPhone.
