Celebrated Dancehall producer Linval Thompson, otherwise called ‘Shab Don’, has been charged with three counts of murder by the police’s Major Investigations Division (MID).
The announcement was made in a tweet by the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), Thompson on Saturday.
The producer was charged after he was positively identified during an identification parade, the JCF tweeted.
More details are to follow, the Constabulary said without providing details of which murders Thompson was charged for.
He was taken into police custody on Friday, June 3 by members of the Joint Anti-Gang Task Force (JAGTF).
At that time, the police said Thompson was arrested during a targeted operation in the St Catherine South division following preliminary investigations into several incidents.
The statement from the police at that time said, “Thompson, who has been identified as a person of interest in the recent triple murder and wounding with intent on May 25th in Rose Heights, St James, is expected to be questioned in the coming days in the presence of his attorney.”
Thompson was freed in April of charges of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, but was on bail for breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act.
