A well-known Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) activist was gunned down in Bayside, Portmore in St Catherine on Sunday night, escalating the wave of bloodshed transcending the sunshine city since the start of the year.

Dead is Wayne Baldie, a 53-year-old resident of a Portmore address. He is better known by his alias ‘Shower Wayne’.

Baldie was engaged in a game of dominoes when gunmen pounced and shot him several times.

The incident occurred sometime after 8:00 pm Sunday.

Whether other persons were shot and injured remains unclear up to time of publication.

Baldie is allegedly a close associate of Lennox Hines, the JLP councillor-caretaker for the Southboro Division in Portmore.

Hines was murdered as he travelled from work on Marcus Garvey Drive last Thursday.

There’s no connection between the two murders at this time.

Investigations are ongoing into the separate killings.
