American sprinter, Sha’Carri Richardson, on Sunday blasted her Jamaican ex-girlfriend for affecting her mental health during their relationship.

But Jamaicans have clapped back at the American 100 metre champion for “outting” the Jamaican athlete even after she claimed she hid her identity to protect her from homophobia during their relationship.

The controversial American sprinter took to Instagram, where she revealed that she was involved with the female Jamaican athlete who she said stole from her.

Jam Street Journal has since learnt that the female is a popular 100 metre hurdler, who has a personal best of 12.40 seconds.

It was widely rumoured in track and field circles that the Jamaican and Richardson were in a relationship. It appears the love affair ended some weeks ago.

Also in her instagram account on Sunday afternoon, Richardson claims her former girlfriend was also abusive.

Richardson wrote: “I was abused and stole from yet protecting her from the judgment of her country and family while they dragged me.”

She later posted a photograph of herself and the female athlete. It was subsequently deleted after screenshots of the photograph went viral.

Jamaicans are, however, spectical of the allegations being made by Richardson.

“Why she (Richardson) out she the girl like dat? She could have left it and not post her picture,” shared one woman.

“Why Shackleberry come pan the internet with this in the Sunday? She could a lef this. Come run some times on the track,” lamented one man.

In recent months, Richardson has written on social media that she spent the past year coping with the loss of her biological mother.

Richardson has also admitted to using marijuana to manage the emotional toll of the passing of her mother. She was issued a ban that prevented her from competing in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Her former training partner, American Justin Gatlin, recently told the podcast ‘I Am Athlete’, that Richardson clocked 10.3’s in practice.

Gatlin asserted that Richardson to break the women’s 100 metre world record.
