The alleged discovery of human skeletal remains in a coffin at an old Lodge building in Morant Bay, St Thomas on Sunday morning, has sprung the police into launching a probe into the grisly find.
The remains were found after authorities from the St Thomas Municipal Corporation were in the process of demolishing the building.
The demolition has since been halted as police investigators process the scene.
The discovery was made sometime after 9:00 am after the municipal authority were carrying out the demolition of old buildings in the St Thomas parish capital.
The old Lodge building is located across from the Morant Bay Police Station, authorities have informed.
While attempting to demolish the building, workers noticed the coffin. It was opened and the skeletal remains were found.
