The swift action of the police has lead to the arrest and charge of an illegal taxi operator who savagely attacked another motorist after they were both involved in a motor vehicle crash along  Half Way Tree Road in St Andrew.

The vicious driver, who has since been identified as 37-year-old Peter Bramwell of Kingston, is said to have several other outstanding traffic warrants and over 60 outstanding tickets.

In a viral video, Bramwell could be seen breaking the man’s car window before returning with a knife that he used to attempt to inflict wounds to the man.

“On or about 6pm on April 26, 2024, the police were alerted to an incident that occurred along Half Tree Road in the vicinity of the National Baking Company,” Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Gary McKenzie explained.

Reports are that there was a collision between a Toyota Probox and a Pajero, leading to an altercation.

“As a result of that crash, the driver of the Toyota Probox motor car became enraged and sought to attack the driver of the Pajero. What the driver of the Probox motorcar did was to use an object to hit out the driver’s door glass of the Pajero motorcar,” McKenzie said in a statement.

The driver of the Pajero was seen exiting, while onlookers tried to intervene before calling the police.

Bramwell has been charged with:

* Disorderly Conduct

* Malicious Destruction of Property

* Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm

The police have also uncovered four traffic warrants and 61 outstanding tickets for Bramwell.

McKenzie is reminding the public that  they should allow for due process after a traffic accident.
