Jamaica has confirmed two more cases of the Mpox virus, a male and a female from Kingston and St Andrew.

Mpox was previously known as Monkeypox.

According to the Ministry of Health and Wellness, this brings the island’s total confirmed cases to 21.

The latest cases are recorded as locally transmitted cases.

One is noted as a contact of a previously confirmed case.

The Health Ministry says the infected patients are now in isolation at the hospital and are in stable condition.

It also says the Kingston and St Andrew Health Department has commenced contact tracing associated with the cases.

The Ministry is reminding the public that the spread of Mpox may occur when a person comes into close contact with an infected individual.

It says members of the public who experience warning signs must immediately isolate themselves and call ahead to their health centre or doctor before visiting.
