A tribute concert will be held at the Jamaica College Auditorium in honour of the late disc jockey Arif ‘Supa Coop’ Cooper on Tuesday.
The event, dubbed a ‘Guardian Angel’ tribute concert, is scheduled to begin at 6pm, with a cocktail hour.
Thereafter, remembrances and musical tribute will follow from 7pm and 11pm.
The concert comes ahead of a thanksgiving service for the popular disc jockey, broadcaster and music producer, which is slated for this Friday at the Webster Memorial Church at 11 am.
Cooper collapsed during his performance at Recall Throwback Edition held at the Police Officers’ Club on March 5 and was later pronounced dead.
He is the son of musician, musical educator, and founding member of the iconic group Third World, Michael “Ibo” Cooper.
Cooper served as a broadcaster and disc jockey at FAME FM for over 25 years, but had started playing at many parties in the early 1990s.
During his stint as a producer, he founded Fresh Air Productions, having major success with the ‘Guardian Angel’ rhythm in 2007.
The rhythm featured the hits ‘Man of My Word’ by Sanjay, ‘Over and Over’ by Tami Chynn, ‘Hold My Hand’ by Sean Paul, and ‘Rise in Love’ by Alaine, among others.
