The principal of an infant school in St Andrew has been charged in relation to the illegal sale of Government agricultural land, near Clifton, St Catherine to unsuspecting citizens.

Charged is Suelyn Ward-Brown, the principal of the Jamaica China Goodwill Infant School in Prime Minister Andrew Holness’ West Central St Andrew constituency.

She is facing charges of breaching the Proceeds of Crime Act, breaching the Law Reform Fraudulent Transactions Special Provisions Act, as well as breaching the Common Law in Relation to Conspiracy to Defraud.

The police, in a release, indicated that three other persons of interest have been identified in the matter.

The charges were laid on the school principal after the Government conducted a demolition of unfinished houses following reports that alleged criminals with links to the Clansman gang sold lots to residents who began to build their homes.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness had asked the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) and other law enforcement bodies to probe the matter.

The Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) were adamant that the houses should have not been demolished, despite them being illegally constructed.

Some of the residents had receipts, bearing the signature of a ‘Clifford Brown’, as proof that they had paid for the plots of land.
