Two men were killed during an alleged confrontation with the police in Above Rocks square, northern St Catherine after an alleged break-in at a business establishment on Tuesday.
The deceased individuals remain unidentified.
Preliminary reports are that the police responded to a break-in and theft of gaming boxes and cash sometime before 3:00 am.
A grey probox motor car was intercepted with men on board, who subsequently opened fire at the police team. Gunfire was returned by the lawmen.
The two men were found suffering from gunshot wounds when the shooting subsided.
They were pronounced dead by medical personnel at the Linstead Hospital.
